Leave Captain Burrell alone!
Burrell
THE EDITOR, Sir:

There have been numerous calls on radio and in the print media for Captain Horace Burrell to explain to the nation in detail the circumstances relating to his recently ended suspension by FIFA. The call for Captain Burrell to do so is ridiculous.

What would an explanation accomplish? It would only set tongues wagging and, in the process, prolong an occurrence that has already been brought to closure. The pressure is likely coming from those who would like to unseat Captain Burrell as head of the JFF.

The fact is, whatever commission or omission that Captain Burrell may have done that inspired FIFA to suspend him has been effectively dealt with by that governing body.

Captain Burrell, in accordance with the rules and regulations of FIFA, has paid the price imposed by FIFA. If what he was accused of was more serious, FIFA would certainly have imposed a more serious penalty, as has been the case with some former FIFA executives.

When a man or woman has already been punished, there is the tendency for the holier-than-thous to keep pelting stones. Perhaps it would be wise for each of us to remember the biblical admonition, 'Let him without sin cast the first stone.'
